Customer Service/Stores - Milford Sound

We have an opportunity for a customer focused indvidual to join our talented Cruise and Ticketing Operations Team in Milford Sound, in Front Desk Ticketing and Stores.  In this role you will be responsible for delivering outstanding service to all of our guests arriving into Milford Sound for our cruises, kayaking excursions, and Underwater Observatory visits. You will also on other day shifts be working in stores, ensuring effcient management and delivery of food and beverages for our cruise boats.

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills, experience, and attributes: 

  • Minimum 1 year's customer service experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and good computer skills, preferably with experience of reservations systems
  • Fluent in written and spoken English 
  • NZ drivers licence (ideally able to drive manual vehicles)
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints
  • Experience with customers of diverse nationalities
  • Team player
  • Experience working in an fast-paced operational environment
  • Able to work under pressure - unflappable!
  • Great telephone manner
  • Comfortable on and around boats
  • Strong work ethic

 The role is all about ensuring our Milford Sound guests have an amazing, once in a lifetime experience in one of the most beautiful places on the planet.  We have a lot of fun, but we also work very hard, ensuring our guests feel welcomed and cared for at all times.

In return you will receive training in the specifics of the role from our highly-experienced Cruise Operations Team, uniform, your own room in subsidised accommodation, and access to a fully stocked communal kitchen. We work a roster of 10 days on and 4 days off (no evening work required), to give you the opportunity to explore this stunning region.

Southern Discoveries is a premium tourism company dedicated to sharing some of New Zealand’s most iconic scenery and extraordinary experiences with the world. The company offers a range of cruises, as well as kayaking and an underwater observatory in Milford Sound, with coach and scenic flight transfers from Queenstown and Te Anau.  In Queenstown, we operate trips to Mt Nicholas High Country farm including farm experiences and cycling, and also specialise in private charters, conference and incentive packages. The company operates a number of retail outlets in Queenstown, Te Anau and Milford Sound.
